NLU Natural Language Understanding

NLU is part of NLP. NLU is the part that focuses on understanding humans. Whereas NLG is kind-of the opposite, which focuses on translating machine understanding into human understandable information.

NLU deals with ambiguity, syntax, and semantics. NLU t provides machines with the ability to interpret and extract meaning from human language. It enables systems to understand the intent behind linguistic input.

• Transformers
  • BERT: Bidirectional attention for sentence meaning.
  • T5: treats all tasks as text-to-text
  • GPT: conversational understanding and generation
• Recurrent Neural Networks (RNNs)
• Word Embeddings: Word2Vec, Glove
