windows european only settings

In the EU there are a lot more rules that windows needs to comply with, this means that there are a lot more things you can toggle in the European Union on windows, than anywhere else.

But what are these settings and how do you enable this?

Enabling

These settings do or don’t show up depending on setup region, this is the region that was first chosen when your device was setup. This normally cannot be changed.

You can change this by changing this registry key:

Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Control Panel\DeviceRegion

and then the DeviceRegion needs to be changed. I know that 244 is the united states. If you cannot edit it, you will be allowed to delete, then when you reopen the settings, Microsoft will recreate it with the current selected country. Which is an oversight from Microsoft.

Settings

There are about 70 settings that are region locked. Some of these allow you to uninstall apps that you normally cannot like Microsoft Bing, Start Experiences App and the Microsoft Store.

Other settings include:

  • Allow you to hide Microsoft Bing search results in the start menu.
  • Removing adds in the search menu
