zettelkasten

Zettelkasten is a way to structure things. More specifically, my obsidian vault. This is the 3rd system that I will try to use for my notes, but this might be the final one.

Zettelkasten has it’s pwn wiki, but the idea is that you just have 1 bis ass folder with notes. These notes have tags and references so that you can easily find where this ā€œideaā€ was sparked from. (the idea of writing the note.) But instead of using obsidian tags, you use other (most of the time non-existent) note links as tags. This way you can see multiple notes that start to link together.

For more info about the structure of the zettelkasten system, read this article.

Zettelkasten is about storing your knowledge so that in the future you’ll be able to write a full fetched article about it. Zettelkast notes aren’t meant to be shared, they are meant for you to easily link notes together, to be able to output articles about it later on.

Some people use the note ID as their actual note name, the ID of this note being 202511051935. but with obsidians easy search, I find it good enough to just generate it at the top of the note, and ctrl+f when I need it. And when I am writing a long ass article, I’ll be able to use <!-- html comments --> to be silently reference to notes, so that I am able to find the thought, without sharing it to the outside world. That is why a zettelkast note is kinda meant to be small.

A reference note is for when a lot of notes reference the same thing, for example: if you are watching a long tutorial and making lots of notes about it.

nuance

now the outcome of a system is not defined by the system, but by the user. I myself will use a modified version of the ZETTELKASTEN idea, just because it will work better for me. Just like this note is made to be a zettelkast note, but it is long and structured like a blog.
