Chrome has always been spyware, it was designed that way. Google created Chrome as a way of explicitly fingerprinting to users, so it would be easy for Google to uniquely identify you and track your activity.
Google owns largest tracking and mass-surveillance network on earth. Everything they produce is spyware. This is called Surveillance Capitalism. Its when corporations produce mass-surveillance mechanisms via spyware, tracking networks, etc., collect and aggregate everything they know about you and, directly and/or indirectly sell your privacy for their own profit. They give you product for “free”, like email or calendar because it gives them access to valuable private information they can sell.
Because privacy is a human right this is a mass-scale human rights violation. Without going into all the ways this can and is abused, and all the effects of erosion of human privacy, you should also know this:
Google, along with all the other big anti-privacy corporations, are selling in bulk, every tiny bit of your private, personally identifiable data to the US Pentagon for billions. That means Google sells all your private email, your phone records, text/FCM communication records, every website they know you’ve ever been to, every search string you’ve used, every gps coordinate your phone has ever recorded, who your friends are, who your family is — everything. Not even mentioning what you can extrapolate from all that.
This is a continuation of the PRISM program that our comrade Snowden revealed to us. PRISM was ruled illegal in US courts, but the loophole is when corporations spy on you, that’s not illegal, so they’re free to sell the Pentagon (meaning NSA/CIA/FBI access) even more information than the NSA has the ability to collect on its own. What do they call it when corporations and state merge into an apparatus that oppresses human rights?
