maniging app permissions over adb - archlinux

I have a Mudita Kompakt with a few sideloaded apps. Spotify keeps asking for the “run in background” permission, but you cannot add permissions that it doesn’t already have on the device itself. So I hooked it up to my Arch Linux computer.

To install ADB:

sudo pacman -S android-tools

Then you can check whether it has really installed by just typing adb in your terminal.

To check all your apps, run:

adb shell cmd package list packages

To set a permission, run:

adb shell cmd appops set com.spotify.music RUN_IN_BACKGROUND allow

To check whether it has sucessfully st your permission (cause the set command doesn’t return text) run:

adb shell cmd appops get com.spotify.music RUN_IN_BACKGROUND

Remember that your phone will be prompted to allow ADB. If you don’t click on the popup, it won’t work.
