the great whatsapp incident of 2026
On April 25th 2026, the phone contacts of my girlfriend, me, and Thomas got mixed together
A lot of contact names got switched, I got a few of Thomas, Thomas got a few of mine, and my girflriend got a few of Thomas and mine. The weirdest thing is that it kept cycling Thomas his name on my phone between the name that I had set, and the name that he’d set for me.
We do not know how many contacts were effected, but we found out why it happened, because contact sync was turned on on our shared google account. And that one apparently hyjacked our contact names from other google accounts as well or something? cause there were no contacts on our shared mail before this incident happened.
