TagStudio

TagStudio is a free, open-source file and photo organization app that uses a flexible tag-based system. Instead of moving your files around, it creates a library on top of your existing folders and lets you organize everything with customizable tags, metadata fields, and powerful search. It works on Windows, macOS, and Linux—no proprietary formats, no sidecar file clutter, and your files stay exactly where they are.

It is a project started by CyanVoxel who disliked file organisation. After trying organisation software, nothing really fitted what he wanted. So he created TagStudio. After creating his 1st video about it, it blew up on the github repo with PR’s.

It now has this cool website for if you are curious.

On the 11th of december the 3rd video was uploaded to his channel talking about the progression and the 9.5 update. Here he mentions the rough development journey about the change to SQLite.
