Do you ever have that you suddenly unlock a random memory by hearing a song?

Whne I am talking about this I don’t just mean memories that are logical. Some memories like going to a concert, or playing the game that they are from, those are logical. I am more talking about memories that seemingly have nothing much to do with the song. I personally had my fair share of these songs. For example, I suddenly remembered that I was looking for a bottle opener in the basement in Hungary when I heard the song Year of the cup by Porter Robinson. This is quite logical you’d think, cause the Smile :D album was released whilst I was on vacation in Hungary. But I have heard this song hundreds of times, why do I specifically remember that I was looking for the Bottle opener? And I know that it wasn’t released on that specific day either. I have a lot of memories like this, some make sense, but a lot also don’t make sense.

But it’s quite funny, some memories are just locked away behind something so simple as a song, and it’s not uncommon either. But this isn’t the only thing songs can do, songs can also be linked to emotions you have. So when you are feeling sad, that you suddenly remember a song, or want to play that song. I don’t have a good example of myself having this, but it does make me think of someone else that had this. My example is from the Dutch tv series called The boy without yesterday. This series is about Jur, he was 21 years old, and studying at Harvard. He was very bright, but suddenly he got a brain inflammation. He forgot everything. But when he was sat behind a piano, he knew how to play the song which he used to play at funerals etc. So somehow his emotions made him remember the song when every other piece of memory was lost.
